 Troilus and Cressida by William Shakespeare - 4/2/2014 
Good - Classic 135 pages - Audio 3 hr 14 min
The callow Troilus pines over the unfaithful Cressida against the backdrop of the Trojan War.
Book club selection. We went to see the play. This is not considered one of Shakespeare's best plays, but the performance was entertaining. 

Austenland by Shannon Hale - 4/9/2014 
Good - Chick Lit  194 pages - Print
30-something Jane is given a trip to Austenland to roleplay with Darcy look-alikes, but will the experience match her fantasy?
Another book club selection. LOVED the film. The book was amusing! There is a sequel now - Midnight in Austenland. My favorite Hale book is The Actor and the Housewife, though.

Tempting Fate by Jane Green - 4/15/2014 
Good - Fiction 343 pages - Print
Gabby has been happily married for 20 years but when she meets a younger man, she suddenly feels alive and desirable again. What will happen if she follows her heart?
Felt the need to grab some fiction that wasn't tied to any "must-reads", if that makes sense. This one was enthralling, and I read it fast.

The Book Marketing Bible by Norm Schriever - 4/29/2014 
Excellent - Non-fiction  162 pages - Kindle
Essential marketing strategies for self-published and first-time authors, or any writer looking to skyrocket sales.
Lots of practical and well-explained tips for self-publishing. I got this book free on Kindle, but it would be worth the purchase price!

October Reads

Finally - my October reading list! Only 6 books, but one of them is the longest book I've ever read. And I've been working my way through another of Diana Gabaldon's books on audio, though I didn't finish that yet. Read on.... No Need for Speed: A beginner's guide to the joy of running by John Bingham - 10/12/09 Excellent - Non-fiction [999 Category - Serendipity 1 (revised category)] This couch potato turned back-of-the-pack athlete has uncovered the path to joy, contentment, self-discovery, and life-changing success, all by putting one foot in front of the other. As you may know, I have started jogging this year and I'm certainly not fast. This book was very helpful in setting goals and realizing a healthy approach to one of my new activities. Twilight (2008)

Notification arrived that a review of Twilight should have appeared in this space before now (Sorry, C!), so here is my hurried-off-the-cuff-5-hours-of-sleep replica of a real review. The Twilight series of books first came to my attention by way of a good friend. We made a trade-off bargain. I'd read Twilight and she'd read a book I'd been begging HER to read. I liked the vampire novel enough to read the two sequels. When the fourth book was published, I re-read the first three in order to read the fourth. (I couldn't remember them well enough to go on to the sequel without a re-read.) I purposely didn't re-read Twilight before the movie, so as to avoid the book-movie comparison game that fans often must play. Then again, I'm not a typical Twilight fan, as Bella gets on my last nerve. To make matters worse, I am on Team Jacob . (I know - horrors!)
